The artist works with groups of up to 30 children and their teachers for two half day sessions each to explore East London’s changing built environment through 3D work. Children will experiment with materials and processes to create 3D art work to produce a collaborative skyline for display.

Potential interpretations include:

  • The variety of architectural forms found in the Olympic Park
  • The wider changes taking place across East London or in your local area

Project Costs

From £345 + materials per class (based on 2 half day workshop sessions @ £135 + planning meeting @ £75)

2. Olympic Value Snapshots

Groups of up to 30 children work with a professional photographer for two half day sessions each to create physical representations of the Olympic values which are then photographed. The images are then collated into a display.

  • How the Olympic values exist in and around the school or classrooms

3. Olympics Animation

A group of up to 30 children work with a professional animator to create an original, Olympic-themed stop-motion animation, providing a creative way of delivering curriculum content whilst producing a teaching resource for future years. Pupils develop their literacy skills through the creation and performance of an original script. The children use a range of ICT equipment to capture, edit and screen their animation.

Potential interpretations include:

  • Tracing the journey of the Olympic torch
  • The history of the Olympics
  • Exploring the Olympic Values
  • Animating opening ceremonies
  • Devising imaginary sporting events

Project Costs:

From £1,020 + materials (based on 5 half day workshop sessions @ £135 + post production time @ £270 + planning meeting @ £75).

4. Olympics Murals or Mosaics

The artist works with one or more groups for half a day each, developing ideas for the Olympic mural or mosaic. Pupils research the topic and the work of artists before refining their designs, either selecting one idea, or incorporating elements from a number. These then lead to hands-on practical workshops for children in groups of 8 – 10 to realise the designs alongside a professional artist.

Potential interpretations include:

  • Street parties and celebrations
  • Sporting imagery or Olympic site
