Open Studios 2010:
Friday 25th June 2010 from 6.30pm till late
Each June the Bow Arts Trust holds its annual Open Studios event attracting upto 2500 people over the weekend.
The Trust's Open Studio event has turned into London's most respected opportunity to take a look ‘behind the scenes’ and engage with over 100 artists.
The 'Open' attracts a diverse crowd from all over the country. We welcome children from the local community who may see artists in their working environment for the first time to business people looking to buy new work for the office.
Over 100 Studios open to walk through, giving you the opportunity to meet artists in their working environment, purchase original work or to simply browse and ask a few questions in a friendly and relaxed manner.
This year's Open was celebrated in style, with live music, bars and Thai food stalls. The 13th annual Open Exhibition in the Nunnery Gallery was also launched. This summer show, Fault Line, will run until 18th July and is curated by Sarah Elson, an American art historian, curator and collector. She has selected 18 artists from the vast pool of over 150 resident Bow Arts based artists to create this exhibition.
As part of the Bow Arts Open, an exhibition of work also took place over the weekend in P1 by artists awarded places on the Bow Arts Live/Work project, supported by Poplar HARCA. P1 is Bow Arts Trust’s latest initiative in partnership with East Thames Housing has secured 3,500sqft of fabulous new purpose built work space for the creative sector.
