The Nunnery Gallery is situated in a former Carmelite nunnery built in 1850; it is located in Bow, East London on the doorstep of the Olympic Park and is part of the Bow Arts Trust.

Programme:

The gallery has run an established programme of contemporary art exhibitions and events for over 12 years. The programme is project driven, initiating and developing projects that reflect and address issues in contemporary art. In doing so, the gallery works with a range of artists, curators, writers and arts organisations. Visitors can expect to see current contemporary work across all disciplines of the visual arts. Alongside the exhibition programme we run events including curator and artist’s talks, artists’ forums, musical performance and audience participatory events. We are part of the Time Out and Whitechapel First Thursday programme.

Gallery Space:

The Nunnery comprises of three main exhibition spaces comprising of over 1500 square feet of exhibition space. The spaces have purpose built walls, high ceilings with original arch features and original tiled flooring in the middle space. The Nunnery isa distinctive and unique location for exhibitions but also for private functions, receptions and corporate events. The Gallery can hold up to 150 guests (depending on the event) and although the space is most suited for standing events, seating for 50 is also available and there is adequate space to set up for a seminar or presentation.

Facilities:

The gallery has fully adapted facilities including ramped access to the building and washroom facilities for wheelchair users.

The Nunnery has a full range of facilities for hire. These include a range of audio visual equipment including video projectors, a 50 inch plasma screen, DVD players etc. We also have a number of tables and seating for up to 50 visitors. The Nunnery offers competitive prices on hiring out the space for events and exhibitions.

The Nunnery Gallery is a unique venue for private functions and corporate events. Against the backdrop of one of our exhibitions, the Gallery offers a unique atmosphere for a formal or informal event.

Location:
The Nunnery has superb transport links with London Underground stations and the DLR within a 5 minute walk, it is also served by many bus routes located within a minute. By car we are served by two major roads into London the A11 and A12. We do not have parking but there is metered street parking on nearby local streets.
